Our Vision and Philosophy
We would love Little Green House children to become
We know it sounds perhaps a bit airy-fairy, but that’s why we’re here – every day – trying to create the environment in which little children can
at their own pace, being fully appreciated and loved for who they are, and supported and stimulated to unfold their potential.
Emotional well-being and social competence are the bricks and mortar for children’s
and healthy brain development. The emotional and physical health, social skills, and cognitive-linguistic capacities that emerge in the early years are all important prerequisites for success in school and later in life.
For our childcare approach, we draw knowledge from the latest neuroscientific insights on early childhood development as well as from the educational philosophies of Maria Montessori, Loris Malaguzzi (Reggio Emilia) and Rudolf Steiner. They all believe in the intrinsic abilities and capabilities of children. Just as we do.
When playing, children get to know the world, each other and above all themselves. Playing means the joy of discovery, trying things out, inventing and creating, copying and imitating. It means acquiring social, emotional, and cognitive skills playfully. It is where children gain self-confidence and develop a sense of self-determination and social behaviour that prepares them for school and a confident and active life.
