Diversity matters even more

I recently came across a pretty good article by McKinsey titled “Diversity Matters Even More: The Case for Holistic Impact.” Although it first appeared in 2023 – part of a series of McKinsey reports dating back 10 years or so -, early 2025 is just as good a moment to sit down and give it a proper read. The article makes a compelling case that simply having a diverse workforce is only part of the picture. What truly matters is creating an environment where everyone feels genuinely included and valued.

McKinsey digs into a few interesting details. For instance, it points out that gender diversity—especially when you see more women represented in leadership and in boardrooms—is linked with better financial performance and innovation. It also highlights that ethnic diversity isn’t just about having a mix of backgrounds for the sake of appearance; instead, it’s about tapping into a wider range of perspectives and experiences that can really drive creative solutions. In short, having a balanced board and leadership team can lead to smarter decisions and a more dynamic organisation overall.

At Little Green House, we try to put this philosophy into practice every day. We firmly believe that every child, every family, and every member of our team deserves the space to be—and become—exactly who they want to be. It’s not just about creating a supportive community; it’s also about nurturing confident, creative (well, mighty) minds that can one day make a real difference in the world: making it more colourful, more accepting of differences, more creative, just better (no pressure, kids!).

If you’re keen to understand why a holistic approach to diversity is such a game changer, I’d encourage you to have a read of McKinsey’s article. It’s a thoughtful and evidence-backed exploration of how real inclusion, supported by meaningful representation in terms of gender and ethnicity, can bring about lasting positive change.
