What it is about:
After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D., discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset. In this brilliant book, she shows how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. People with a fixed mindset — those who believe that abilities are fixed — are less likely to flourish than those with a growth mindset — those who believe that abilities can be developed. Mindset reveals how great parents, teachers, managers, and athletes can put this idea to use to foster outstanding accomplishment.
Why we love it:
Growth Mindset is really important for us in the development of our « Mighty Minds » concept pillar. We encourage children to try new things and don’t be discouraged by failure or a challenge. We love it when we see how they enjoy a little challenge and the sense of achievement they get when they succeed.
Research has shown that developing a growth mindset has a positive impact on children’s learning and attainment. But it’s not all about educational outcomes. Research also suggests that having a growth mindset increases children’s ability to try all sorts of different challenges and problems that they might not have otherwise tackled, ultimately increasing self-esteem and life satisfaction. And what more could we ask for?
